LakeSkadar is the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula. Located between Albania and Montenegro, Lake Skadarhas an area of 362 km2; from which 213 km2 belong to Montengro.
One of the best places for exploring the lake area is the small village of Virpazar at the western edge of the lake. The owner of the Pelikan Hostel organizes 2-4 hours long boat excursions on the western part of the lake.

Restaurants serve the Lake Skadar’s fish specialties like carps and eels. The lake is one of the largest European bird reserves.
Lake Skadar was declared national park in 1983 and was included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance in 1996.
