Bijelo Polje is located in the northern part of Montenegro, north of Bjelasica Mountains on the bank of Lim River. Bijelo Polje is the cultural, administrative and economic center of the northern part of Montenegro.
Bijelo Polje has a favorable geographic position; it is situated in the crossroads of the main roads: the Beograd – Podgorica highway and the Belgrade-Bar railway also run through this the town.
The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is situated in the center of Bijelo Polje. The church was built at the end of the 12th century, in the place of a smaller church from the 10th century.
During its history it was destroyed and reconstructed at several occasions.
